7750 Sniper III Split Vision Rework Station

7750 Sniper III Split Vision Rework Station

The Sniper III is a robust, high-precision automatic rework station engineered for demanding, high-production rework environments. It features dual stations—one for removing defective components and another for placing replacements. A live video feed displays the underside of the chip alongside the PCB footprint, allowing precise visual alignment. Once perfectly overlaid, the component is placed automatically and reflowed. This seamless process ensures consistent, damage-free results even with delicate or densely packed assemblies.

Combining the advanced Energy Reflow technology with cutting-edge optical and alignment systems, the Sniper III delivers exceptional accuracy when working with ultra fine-pitch devices, micro BGAs, QFPs, CSPs, and large ceramic or plastic BGAs. Once aligned, pneumatic control lifts the camera and positions the component with the exact vertical placement via a Vertical Placement Drive (VPD). The system includes both an onboard computer and an external Pentium IV with a color monitor. Programs are created using Graphical Display Window (GDW) software and uploaded directly to the onboard system for seamless operation.

Sniper III Vision Rework System: Precision Meets Performance

The Sniper III Split Vision Rework Station combines advanced closed-loop energy reflow control with state-of-the-art optical alignment technology to deliver absolute precision in reworking ultrafine pitch devices, micro BGAs, QFPs, CSPs, and even large ceramic or plastic BGAs. By continuously measuring heated air temperature and ensuring flawless alignment, it provides unmatched accuracy and reliability. Pneumatic control automatically positions components while the Vertical Placement Drive (VPD) orients them perfectly to the contact land pattern, and the Venturi Vacuum Pick-Up system securely supports each device during alignment before releasing it with a snap for flawless placement. Together, these features reduce errors, protect sensitive components, and maximize throughput, making the Sniper III the ultimate solution for today's demanding rework challenges.

DABIS Prism Alignment System

The DABIS Prism Alignment System provides unmatched precision by allowing the component's contact array to be viewed from underneath and superimposed over the PCB's contact land pattern for perfect alignment. Precision micrometers fine-tune lead patterns while the camera's zoom and focus simplify setup and ensure comfortable, accurate viewing on the monitor. The Dichroic Alignment Beam Image Spitter (DABIS), a modern refinement of split-prism imaging, enhances clarity and repeatability, streamlining alignment even during continuous operation. With the flexibility to view a wide range of components without additional setup—and the option to insert the Macro Imager 7000-2500 for large components—the system adapts seamlessly to diverse applications. For final placement, the reinforced Vertical Placement Drive (VPD) delivers stable, precise positioning with adjustable Z-axis pressure sensing, ensuring delicate components are placed with absolute accuracy and protection.

Rotary/Staged Vacuum Board Holder

The Sniper III is equipped with a standard 12" x 16" (305 x 406 mm) vacuum-actuated board holder that glides smoothly into position for quick and accurate setup. Precision micrometers allow fine adjustments along the X- and Y-axis, while the rotary/staged feature provides "Theta" control for precise component alignment. Optional extender kits expand versatility, accommodating both smaller and larger boards—up to 16" x 18" (406 mm x 457 mm)—and supporting everything from micro BGAs to high pin-count ceramic CBGAs.

On-Board Computer & Profile Control

Designed for efficiency, the Sniper III operates directly from its built-in computer, eliminating the need for an external PC. The onboard system automatically manages the bottom heater and runs pre-programmed profiles or patterns for complete process control. Operators can store up to sixteen multi-segment (Ramp & Soak) profiles directly on the machine or create unlimited recipes using the included Windows-based Graphical Display Window (GDW) software. Profiles are simple to create, recall, and edit, while thermocouple inputs allow accurate temperature profile generation to ensure consistent process control. Data logging is automatically generated in PDF format, and once a rework cycle is complete, the system shuts down automatically, delivering reliable results, reduced operator workload, and maximum efficiency.
