7500 Intruder Lightning Split Vision Rework Station

7500 Intruder Lightning Split Vision Rework Station

Precision Rework for Low- to Mid-Volume BGA and SMT Applications

At the core of the Intruder Lightning is a high-efficiency convection oven with advanced PID control, engineered to deliver precise thermal management for component removal and reflow. This convection technology ensures fast, uniform heating with minimal thermal stress on surrounding components, making it ideal for BGA, QFN, CSP, and other SMT packages that demand accuracy and repeatability. The system pairs this thermal precision with a semi-automated split-vision alignment system, a manual placement arm, and a precision touch-down stage for controlled and reliable rework. Onboard intelligence allows direct programming of up to 16-step ramp/soak reflow profiles via the integral keypad, while PC-based GDW software provides profile creation, editing, storage, and real-time temperature monitoring. A four-channel thermocouple bank further supports process development and refinement through detailed profiling and live feedback. Combining the power of high-efficiency convection heating with user-friendly operation and flexible control, the Intruder delivers professional-grade performance without the complexity of a fully automated system—making it the ideal choice for labs, repair centers, and rework operations.

High-Performance Convection Rework System

At the core of the rework station is a high-efficiency convection oven designed to deliver precise, controlled heat for both component removal and reflow. By directing hot air uniformly across the target area, the system achieves rapid thermal transfer while minimizing exposure to surrounding components and sensitive substrates. This ensures fast, reliable rework with minimal thermal stress, reducing the risk of damage and maintaining board integrity during even the most demanding reflow or desoldering operations.

Precision Closed-Loop Control

The Intruder features closed-loop PID control on its onboard computer, making it an ideal system for low-volume BGA and SMT rework. For higher-throughput repair conditions, a dual set of PID Profile Storage Controllers provides easy-to-use soak and ramp functions to optimize performance. Electrically coupled microprocessor top-reflow and bottom-preheat controllers include integrated digital timers and digital closed-loop sensing, delivering repeatability better than 2% of set point, with temperatures selectable in °F or °C for precise, consistent process control.

DABIS Prism Alignment System

The DABIS Prism Alignment System provides unmatched precision by allowing the component's contact array to be viewed from underneath and superimposed over the PCB's contact land pattern for perfect alignment. Precision micrometers fine-tune lead patterns while the camera's zoom and focus simplify setup and ensure comfortable, accurate viewing on the monitor. The Dichroic Alignment Beam Image Splitter (DABIS), a modern refinement of split-prism imaging, enhances clarity and repeatability, streamlining alignment even during continuous operation. With the flexibility to view a wide range of components without additional setup, the system adapts seamlessly to diverse applications. Equipped with a manual component placement arm and a precision touch-down stage, the Intruder allows the operator to manually engage the lever after alignment to accurately place the component onto the PCB.

Intruder Frame Board Holder System

The Intruder comes standard with a 12" x 16" frame board holder mounted on precision X-Y linear rails with micrometer adjustment, allowing smooth, accurate positioning of PCBs. Operators can easily slide boards from the vision placement area to the soldering station, ensuring efficiency and repeatability in every operation. For added flexibility, optional larger frame board holders are available, supporting sizes up to 16" x 20" to accommodate a wide range of applications and board dimensions.

On-Board Computer & Profile Control

Designed for efficiency, the Intruder is operated from its built-in computer via an integral keypad, while the onboard PID controller automatically managers the heaters to deliver precise, repeatable results. A PC running Graphical Display Window (GDW) software is always connected to the onboard computer, enabling you to create, edit, and generate an unlimited number of profiles and perform in-depth thermal data analysis. A four-input thermocouple bank provides accurate multi-point temperature profiling and real-time monitoring, and operators can store up to sixteen multi-segment (Ramp & Soak) profiles directly on the onboard computer for quick recall. PDF data logging is produced automatically, and the rework cycle shuts down on completion, reducing operator workload and ensuring consistent, efficient process control.

Customizable Rework Stations

All of our rework stations can be fully customized to match your specific requirements. Whether you need a larger PCB holder for oversized boards, prefer to eliminate the bottom heater, or want to adapt the system for a specialized process, we can tailor the configuration to suit your workflow. Our flexible design approach ensures that every station delivers exactly what you need.
