Built upon the same architecture as Manncorp’s popular MC Series of SMT pick and place machines, the new MC-400 is specially designed for startups, product development labs, and contract manufacturers that need to build prototypes or short runs in-house, with high-precision and quick turn-around times. The MC-400 can also be viewed as a long-term investment in pick and place capability for when volumes increase, as feeders, software, and accessories are fully compatible with the other members of the MC family.

MC-400 SMT Pick & Place Machine Features

Speed, Accuracy and Precision

  • Full-vision alignment system Cognex® on-the-fly and bottom vision cameras
  • Closed-loop servo motion control with linear encoders for smooth, high-speed movement and high accuracy and repeatability
  • Weighs 364 lbs (without stand)-built for maximum stability and repeatability, with welded steel frame construction
  • Single head places up to 3,000 parts per hour (2,500 pph, IPC-9850)

Huge Component Range

  • Places 0201 through 100 x 150 mm components, including MBGAs, micro lead frames (MLFs), CSPs, µBGAs, BGAs and QFPs with lead pitch down to 15 mil
  • All ball inspection and missing ball detection, with nonstandard ball patterns programmable and inspectable
  • 15-position automatic tool holder/changer
  • Handles single and double-side boards of 415 mm x 320 mm (16.3" x 12.5") 

Feeder Capacity and Flexibility

  • Up to 64 feeder slots allow commonly used components to be kept resident on the machine
  • Feeder racks can accommodate a mix of tape feeders and IC tube/stick feeders
  • Smart plug-and-play tape and stick feeders link to feeder position, component and indexing data in the system software to reduce job setup and changeover times. Ultra-smooth, electronic tape feeders index parts to the same place every time-set it up once and never have to do it again.
  • Cut-tape strip holders eliminate need to purchase entire reels of components for smaller jobs. (Holds up to 40 individual cut tape strips.)
  • Waffle trays and cut strip feeder holders can be used in placement area 

Easy Programming & Operation

  • UCAD® universal CAD import and conversion for direct transfer of PCB data from ASCII, AutoCAD and Excel data formats
  • Teaching/fiducial recognition camera
  • Virtual PCB Simulator offers assembly preview for component, coordinates and orientation verification prior to running production
  • Smart tape and IC tube/stick feeders for fast set-up and changeover and feeder placement optimization

Additional Touches

  • Computer controller with flat-screen LCD display, keyboard and mouse included
  • Included vision inspection capability allows camera to be used to selectively check solder paste printing or component placement accuracy
  • Optional bar code reader scans component value, lot code, date and component quantities directly from component packaging for inventory management
