Pedestrian Signal Safety Products Improved by Advanced SMT Turnkey Line

An American manufacturer of pedestrian signal safety products, Campbell Company, of Boise, Idaho, recently purchased a complete SMT Turnkey assembly line from Manncorp Inc. The line consisted of the AP430 automatic inline stencil printer, the MC-389 high speed high mix pick & place machine and the CR-5000 5-zone SMT reflow oven.

According to Campbell Company’s General Manager, Phil Tate, “the turnkey line has met all of our expectations - and they were high. Our company had not been building anything but prototypes with all production boards outsourced. We are currently running all of our products in house except one.”

Tate also expressed his happiness with Manncorp’s installation and training program, “Andy (Scheer, Manncorp Technician) did the install and training and has been a resource once or twice. He did an excellent job. The proof of this is the fact that we are running product 5 days a week every week of the year.”

“Not only did having our own line allow us to decrease our cost and control our own quality destiny, but it also allowed our company to control our inventory with significant effect,” Tate concluded.

Below are some more photos from the installation at Campbell Company:

This photo shows how Manncorp helps design a line to fit available floor space. In this case, the oven runs 90 degrees from the pick and place machine, with a board turner connecting the two. This setup allowed Campbell Company to get more capacity and capability than a smaller line in a more standard layout would have offered.
