High-precision ballscrew drive and linear encoders MC-835V1V's high-quality build and components ensure a level of repeatability and accuracy that other pick and place systems in its price range can't match. High-powered AC servo motors allow for placement rates reaching 5,000 cph (4,000 cph, IPC-9850) while high-precision ballscrew drive and linear encoders ensure placement accuracy of 30 µm, 3 Sigma.
Dual Vision Systems Cover Widest Range of Components
MC-385V1V pick and place machine dual-vision system for 0201s (or 01005s) through 100 x 150 mm

The head-mounted COGNEX® on-the-fly alignment system provides true non-contact alignment for the smallest parts, including CSPs and µBGAs, allowing for maximum speed and efficiency. Standard vision camera handles parts down to 0201s. 01005 capability is available as an option.

The other camera, a base-mounted, upward-aimed system, handles larger SMDs, including large BGAs, up to 100 x 150 mm.

High Feeder Capacity for Fast Job Changes
MC-385V1V pick and place machine high feeder capacity

With 32-port Smart Feeder Bases installed on all four sides, MC-385 has a max feeder capacity of 128 tape feeders ports.Tape feeders from 8 mm to 72 mm are available. The 8 mm feeders require only one port each on the feeder base; larger feeders will require more. Your Manncorp sales professional can help you determine how many feeder ports your jobs will require based on your BOM.

In addition to tape feeders and universal tube/stick feeders mounted on the feeder bases, waffle trays and cut strip tape holders can be used in the placement area. Cut strip holders feed parts from short lengths of tape, whether because the components have been purchased in small quantity or because a remaining section of tape is too short to be loaded into a tape feeder.

Smart Feeders for Fast, Error-Free Setup
Smart Tape and Stick Feeders

Each smart feeder base holds 32 slim-profile 8-mm standard or half-step Smart Tape Feeders or up to 50 individual stick/tubes (using Smart IC Tube Holders). The innovative design of the feeders and mounting hardware allows almost limitless flexibility in feeder configurations. Feeders can be loaded, programmed and mounted independently. Smart Tape Feeders and Smart IC Tube Holders can be used together on the same feeder base for maximum flexibility. Large Placement Area
High feeder capacity

With the maximum of four feeder bases installed, MC-385V1V's placement area of 370 mm x 350 mm (14.5" x 13.8") still allows room for a waffle tray or cut strip tape holder alongside the PCB. When only front and back feeder ports are used, the placement area increases to 435 mm x 350 mm (17.1" x 13.8").

MC-385 uses the same robust, Windows®-based software as the higher end MC series machines. Customer feedback over the past ten years has created a very easy to use, stable and reliable system. 

  • Program via CAD import and conversion, teaching or direct entry.
  • Component library covers all common component package types and sizes, including resistors, capacitors, diodes, SOTs, PLCCs, QFPs, SOJs, SOPs, etc.
  • Component library data links to Smart Feeder software for easy feeder setup and inventory control.
  • When optional dispensing head is installed, dispensing patterns and parameters can be defined and assigned to specific components in the component library.
  • Virtual PCB Simulator displays a virtual assembly based on programming data.
  • Fiducial mark search routines identify and correct for PCB offset or misalignment.
  • Optimization tools analyze placement data and component mix to provide recommended feeder arrangement that minimizes head travel and tool changes, allowing for fastest production speeds.
  • Network adapter and remote diagnostic software allow for fast trouble-shooting by Manncorp techs.
Optional Conveyor
Integrated dispenser option

MC-385V1V comes standard as a batch machine. Two conveyor options are available:

In/out conveyor. With this setup, the conveyor is located at the front of the machine, allowing for three feeder racks, with a maximum total feeder capacity of 96 8-mm feeders, to be installed on the machine. The operator places the board on the conveyor, the conveyor moves into the placement area, assembly is performed, and then the conveyor moves the board back out the front the machine for the operator to pick up and replace. This is more efficient than reaching into the machine.

Inline conveyor. This SMEMA-compatible conveyor with motor-driven width control can be used inline or with magazine racks and a board loader and unloader. Feeder racks can be installed on the front and back of the machine, for a maximum total feeder capacity of 64 8-mm tape feeders. 

Optional Dispense Head Cuts Stencil Costs for Small-Volume Jobs
MC-385V1V pick and place machine integrated dispenser option

MC-385V1V is available with an advanced time pressure (ATP) adhesive and solder paste dispensing system that eliminates the time and expense of having stencils made for small volume jobs. This high-accuracy dispenser with closed-loop, microprocessor control produces dot sizes down to 0.5 mm diameter at rates to 6,000 dots/hour. Due to the dispenser's tight integration with the machine, it cannot be retrofitted and must be specified during machine purchase.

Solid Build for Stability & Accuracy
High feeder capacity

Welded uni-body steel frame is four to five times heavier than other machines in this price range, providing the rigidity and stability needed to withstand the forces generated by the X-Y drive when running at high speeds, so that precision is maintained even at the upper end of MC-385V1V's placement capability.
