MC-392 High Mix Pick and Place
Ideal for high-mix, low- to mid-volume manufacturing environments. Dual-head MC-392 SMT pick and place machine holds up 160 Smart tape and stick feeders, plus cut tape strips and waffle trays, allowing more parts to be kept resident on the machine for faster job changeovers. High-quality components and build achieve placement accuracy of 30 µm, 3 Sigma at placement rates reaching 6,400 pph.

MC-392 comes standard with the ability to place parts as small as 0201s. Two micro-optics packages are available to bring that capability down to 01005s while still maintaining placement accuracy of 30 µm, 3 Sigma. At the other end of the spectrum, MC-392 can place SMDs as large as 100 x 150 mm, including:
- BGAs
- µBGAs
- CSPs
- Micro Lead Frames (MLFs)
- Fine-pitch QFPs down to 0.3 mm/0.012" lead pitch
- Odd form components
- And much more
Alignment is accomplished via a dual-vision combination of Cognex® head-mounted on-the-fly cameras and a stationary bottom camera. MC-392's full vision alignment, which matches component leads, balls or bumps directly with the pads, completely eliminates placement inaccuracies caused by systems that locate and align to only the component body.

With MC-392 configured as a batch/stand-alone machine, two 48-port feeder racks can be installed on the front and rear of the machine and two 32-port feeder racks on the sides for a total of 160 feeder ports, usable with Smart tape IC stick/tube feeders.
With the three-stage inline conveyor installed, two 48-port feeder racks can be mounted on the front and rear of the machine for a total of 96 feeder ports.
In either case, waffle trays, bulk loose parts trays and cut strip tape holders can be placed in the generous (350 mm x 600-660 mm/13.8" x 23.6"-26") placement area.
MC-392's feeders have been designed for time savings and performance:
- Plug-and-play Smart tape and stick feeders link to feeder position, component and indexing data to reduce job setup and changeover times.
- Ultra-smooth electronic tape feeders index parts to the same place every time—set it up once and never have to do it again.
- Universal stick feeders adjust to virtually any SMD length, width or tube packaging dimensions.
- Cut tape strip holders allow component to be purchased in quantities less than full reels.
MC-392's placement software analyzes and optimizes feeder locations to minimize head travel and tool changeovers and maximize efficiency and throughput.
A bar code scanner and offline feeder programming software are available as time-saving options—scan component data in from the reel label, program feeders for an upcoming job while the machine runs current jobs.

A high-precision ballscrew drive is combined with closed-loop, high-performance servo motors and non-contact linear encoders and housed in a heavy-duty welded steel frame to provide high accuracy, repeatability and stability even at top speeds, even when placing the smallest components.
All parts are covered by a 1-year warranty.
Additionally, the MC-392 includes a network adapter and remote service support software, allowing Manncorp techs to troubleshoot the machine remotely for fastest problem resolution.

MC-392 uses the same robust, Windows®-based software as all other MC series machines. Customer feedback over the past ten years has created a very easy to use, stable and reliable system.
- Program via CAD import and conversion, teaching or direct entry.
- Component library covers all common component package types and sizes, including resistors, capacitors, diodes, SOTs, PLCCs, QFPs, SOJs, SOPs, etc.
- Component library data links to Smart Feeder software for easy feeder setup and inventory control.
- When optional dispensing head is installed, dispensing patterns and parameters can be defined and assigned to specific components in the component library.
- Virtual PCB Simulator displays a virtual assembly based on programming data.

MC-392 is available with a special 2-stage conveyor option that, when used with the CT-150 conveyor extension unit, permits assembly of long LED tubes and other PCBs 1200 mm (47.25") long.
After the first 600 mm of the board has been populated, the MC-392's optional 2-stage conveyor advances the board by 600 mm, onto the CT-150 conveyor extension, allowing the remaining length of the board to be populated.
